🚐 Ride Reminders Are Coming
🚐 A heads-up before your ride: Starting Oct. 19, Ocean County’s Reserve-A-Ride will provide automated calls the day before a booked trip and 15 minutes before the pickup window, plus texts when the vehicle is on its way and has arrived. Phone booking stays the same. Make sure your contact information is current and be ready when your pickup window begins. The program provides door-to-door, non-emergency medical transportation for adults 60 and older and people with disabilities 18 and older, with advance registration.

🎃 The neighbors are looking a little straw-stuffed: The Downtown Toms River Scarecrow Walk brings creative characters downtown Oct. 9–31. 🪁 Look up—fall is flying: The 12th Annual LBI FLY Invitational Kite Festival returns Oct. 9–10 in Ship Bottom and Long Beach Township. Watch colorful kites take over the seaside skies. 🌟 Take the stairs to the stars: Climb the 199 steps of the Cape May Lighthouse during the Stairway to the Stars Lighthouse Climb in Cape May Point on Saturday, Oct. 10. Scheduled around the new moon, this evening climb offers darker skies for stargazing—especially if the weather cooperates. Binoculars are welcome but must be securely worn at all times. A heavenly view, with a decidedly earthly workout getting there.
🍁 Mum’s the word—but these flowers deserve a little bragging: Longwood Gardens’ Autumn’s Colors brings golden foliage and spectacular blooms to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Oct. 2–Nov. 15. Visit Oct. 16 or later for the Chrysanthemum Festival: more than 5,000 plants shaped into spirals, cascading clouds and a new double arch. These are decidedly not your supermarket mums.
Explore three treehouses—including the ADA-accessible Lookout Loft—and the miniature Garden Railway. Stop for seasonal refreshments in the Beer Garden or reserve at 1906, Longwood’s signature restaurant.
✨ Stay for the evening sparkle: Illuminated Fountain Performances begin at 8:15 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31. A new Symphony of Horror show on Oct. 23 pairs scenes from Nosferatu with live organ music; Halloween Magic runs Oct. 24, 25 and 31.
